The Gold Coast prides itself on its tag-line, "Beautiful one day...perfect the
next." This claim certainly rings true during the renowned
Gold Coast summer, with locals and tourists alike taking advantage of the Gold
Coast’s 57km of uninterrupted coast line, home to some of the most popular surf
breaks in Australia and, arguably, the world.
The Gold Coast features a diverse array of landscapes and is renowned for its
sunny subtropical climate, popular beaches, expansive waterway and canal
systems, a skyline dominated by high-rise apartment buildings, a peaceful
rainforest hinterland in the west of the city, active nightlife and its wide
variety of tourist attractions.
Less than one hour from the Gold Coast is Brisbane Airport which provides wider
domestic and international access to the Gold Coast. In
addition, the Gold Coast’s local airport, located in Coolangatta (approximately
40 minutes from Surfers Paradise) also features an international terminal in
addition to domestic services.
The Gold Coast is perfect for a family holiday, with Australia’s biggest and
best theme parks residing on the Gold Coast. The range of
Gold Coast theme parks include: Dreamworld, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild Water World,
Warner Bros. Movie World, Whitewater World and Australian Outback Spectacular.
Active adventuring is also available on the Gold Coast, with surfing, golfing,
boating and whale watching among other options.
One of the Gold Coast’s most recent, and now most popular, landmarks is the Q1
building. Q1, located in Surfers Paradise, towers over the
Gold Coast, with its observation deck (on level 77, the highest of its kind in
Queensland) boasting a 360° view of the Gold Coast and down to Byron Bay. In total, Q1 is 322.5 metres high.
